Sunday, April 4, 2004 WILPF Fundraiser - Panel discussion including Author Cynthia Enloe, Lawyer Margaret Burnham and WILPF’s own Nancy Lee Wood - at Beacon Hill Friends House, 6 Chestnut St., 5:30 to 8:30.

Fund raising to send WILPFers to Sweden. National wants donations to send people from poor countries. But we have two people who want to go and can't afford it, Laura and Nancy Lee Wood. So it was decided we should do a fundraiser to help them. Joan, Audley and Amy are on the fund-raising committee to organize this. WILPF Boston had its Fall Retreat on September 5 - 6, 2003 at Walker House in Newton. The theme was racial justice and we had a reality game presentation by Sha'an Mouliert to let us experience how oppression works. We also discussed what we can do to get the Liars out of the White House in the election of 2004.

On Monday, April 14, 2003 Branch members Laura Roskos, Gretchen Klotz, Joan Ecklein and Nancy Lee Wood met with Jan Kavan, Czech ambassador to the United Nations currently serving as president of the General Assembly to discuss the potential for a Uniting for Peace resolution censuring the U.S. invasion of Iraq. This gathering is to speak-out against what the industry is describing as the best weapon since the Atomic Bomb. The weapon of our focus is the new Microwave machine that can now fry a human being from the inside out.

Protest training and planning session for the event will be offered to interested persons.

The event, scheduled for 9:30-11:00 a.m., will feature Dr. Susan Weld, Dr. Dessima Williams, Members of the Caucus of Women Legislators, and a multimedia presentation by Dr. Carol Hardy-Fanta, Tess Browne and some of the women who participated in the audit.
