Pickup Picnic
Trash and Recycle Petition

The first public event for the Waltham Greens is a picnic and trash
clean up event called Pick Up Picnic and will be at Prospect Hill.
We will be
working with the Prospect Hill Advocacy Group.
Date is set for Saturday, September 15th. We have more decisions to
make on the event at the next meeting.
For discussion
The Pick-Up-Picnic is to be a way to kick off a
larger campaign to clean up and get the whole city recycling.

Proposal for Waltham Greens Trash and Recycle Petition Revision 1.0 7/8/01
TO The Mayor of Waltham and The Waltham City Council
- WHEREAS Trash on the city streets is a continuing problem
- WHEREAS Recycling in Waltham is growing thanks to moving to weekly recycling
program
WE the undersigned, citizens of Waltham, petition the The Mayor of Waltham,
The Waltham City Council, and the City of Waltham to
1) Install and maintain at least one trash receptacle at every street
intersection, and several at every park, and to
2) Install and maintain a recycling receptacle at every major intersection, and
at least one at every park, that will accept the same materials that are now
recycled in the home recycling program, and to
3) Allow and encourage all residential buildings which are not currently
allowed to participate, to join in the city wide recycling program, and to
4) Work on a plan to incorporate recycling from businesses throughout the city
of Waltham starting no later than the end of the calendar year 2002.
